About Me
Born and raised in Naperville, Illinois alongside two loving parents, two sisters, a brother, and a playful yellow labrador retriever. My passion for education started young when my parents would observe me playing classroom with my assortment of stuffed animals and whichever sibling I could convince would be a "good" student.
After attending Illinois State University and majoring in Elementary Education I still craved more knowledge to deepen my practice, that is where AUSL came into play. I work for Academy for Urban School Leadership, a company responsible for turning around failing schools and implementing highly qualified teachers into said schools. Currently I am a Resident Teacher at The Chicago Academy located on the North West side of Chicago in Portage Park. As part of this program I am attending graduate school at National-Louis University with the goal of receiving my Masters of Urban Education and my Special Education endorsement come June 23, 2013.
Here you will find several pages that support who I am as an educator and how I plan to expand on my practice. This site details my professional achievements and development throughout this year of learning and teaching.
Philosophy
I believe education does not solely take place in the classroom, but all around the world. My goal as an educator is to foster learning for life through creating an environment that encourages student-lead learning, actively building upon knowledge, creating an active learning environment, constructing responsible citizens of the future, and generating independent thinking.
